When he came home the lock of the door was open, she left it open specially for him to come in. He opened the door and the surprise was waiting for him. A nice dinner table, with a couple of candles, semi dark room, romantic music falling out nicely from the stereo, and she was sitting there looking at him, smiling, beautiful as always. For the thousandth time he thought to himself “I have to be the luckiest man in the world to have her by my side”…
But in fact this wasn’t what he was expecting to be, this wasn’t another night from the thousand and one nights he was dreaming for… this time there wasn’t going to be kisses after the dinner, neither going to bed after the wine by the fireplace… this time there was going to be talking, some serious talking… she didn’t want to go on with the relationship, she had someone else in mind… he was shocked looking at her, to the table, the half empty wine bottle, the fire in the fireplace, then her again… he said nothing just stood up, took his coat and walked out… he left the door open…
She was sitting there thinking if she had to cry or to feel relieved, she was looking to the door… the door was still open.
